Join a board
When organisations have women in leadership roles there are economic, social and environmental benefits.
That’s why we have set 2 gender diversity targets to increase women’s representation on Queensland Government bodies.
The targets are:
- 50% of all new board appointees to Queensland Government bodies will be women
- 50% representation of women on Queensland Government bodies by 2020.
Become board-ready
Whether you're aiming to sit on a public, private or not-for-profit board, there are some fundamental criteria that guide all board appointments.
To consider if you're ready to serve on a board now or in the future, visit the Women on Boards website to find more information and resources to help you prepare for your board role.
Apply to join a board
There are more than 300 Queensland Government boards, committees and other bodies that play an important role in providing leadership, direction and advice.
If you are interested in serving on government boards, committees and statutory authorities join the Queensland Register of Nominees to Government Bodies.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, people with expertise in multiculturalism, young people and people with disabilities are encouraged to join. This contributes to diversity in the boardroom, and can add different perspectives and approaches that have positive outcomes.
